Joseph Rodney Sexton, better known as J.R., died Monday, May 26, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was a Jackson County native born February 14, 1950, son of the late Thomas Logan Sexton and Wanda Ingram Hampton. J.R. took pride in being an Army and Airforce Veteran who also served in the Vietnam War. He attended Church on the Rock, was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats, and collecting old coins and antiques.
J.R. is Survived by his mother Wanda Ingram Hampton; Stepmother Ann Sexton Elkins; brother Thomas Logan Sexton; sister Jannah Sexton; son Joshua Sexton (Jessica); daughters April Rader (Shane), Rachel Sexton (Steven); grandchildren Deshana, Makayla, Aliesha, Milton, Aseph, and Logan; 3 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his Father, Thomas Sexton.
Visitation was Friday, May 30, at Reppert Funeral Home, where Brother Jonathon Marcum officiated. Burial was at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville. Pallbearers were Joshua Sexton, Shane Rader, Milton Rader, D.J. Evans, Thomas Sexton, and Blake Osborne.
Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the arrangements.
