Ruth Osborne Baker

Ruth Osborne Baker, 85, widow of Homer Baker, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the
Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was born in Leslie County in 1940 to the late
Clarence and Emma Baker Osborne. Ruth was a graduate of Oneida Baptist Institute and attended
Fugazzi Business College. She loved camping, fishing, water skiing, and snow skiing, especially with her
grandchildren. She had her private pilot’s license since the early 1980s. Ruth was of the Baptist faith.
Other than her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by seven siblings, Paul Osborne, Arley
Osborne, Clarence Osborne Jr., Faye Kearns, Matt Osborne, Steve Osborne, and Glenna Rose Osborne.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Larry Baker (Joanie) of Richmond, and Michael Baker of Berea,
Patrick Goodwin, whom she raised as a son. Five grandchildren, Erin Baker Hamner, Logan Baker, Megan
Baker, Chris Baker, and Kyndon Goodwin, along with one great-grandchild, Ivey Ruth Hamner, also
survived by her sisters Janette Baute (Paschal), Jean Hoskins, and Josephine (Jo) Jordan.
Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, with graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday
June 5, in the Bige Hoskins Cemetery in Clay County, Rev. Bruce Alcorn will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Chris Baker, Logan Baker, James Hamner, Kyndon Goodwin, Darrell Harrison, and
Mark Moody, honorary pallbearers are Megan Baker, Erin Baker Hamner, Johnny Jones, and Shell
Benedict.
